Live media platform and virtual concert provider Moment House has announced it has closed a $12 million Series A round led by Forerunner Ventures, with participating investors according to the announcement including UTA Ventures, IDEO, Halsey and many others.
“We’re excited to welcome more top tech and entertainment leaders to Moment House as we continue empowering creators to deliver special live experiences to their worldwide communities digitally,” Moment House CEO and co-founder Arjun Mehta said in the announcement. “This fundraising round allows us to execute on our ambitious product roadmap, which involves deepening the consumer social experience, and on the supply-side, opening up the platform so that any creator in the world can easily make a Moment. Everything we have done so far is just Step 1 of a much bigger plan to help build the metaverse.”
Other investors noted in the announcement include comedian Whitney Cummings, Kaytranada & manager William Robillard-Cole, Dumb Money Capital (Devon Townsend, founder of Cameo, and Cody Ko), Noel Miller, actor/singer Tom Felton, Parcast Founder & Spotify executive Max Cutler, former YouTube executive Shishir Mehrotra, Clubhouse executive Aarthi Ramamurthy, Adobe executive Scott Belsky, Discord executive Anjney Midha, Defy Ventures, Work Life Ventures and media entrepreneur Richard Rosenblatt.
Launched out of the Jimmy Iovine and Andre “Dr. Dre” Young Academy for Innovation at USC, Moment House has become one of the forefront of platforms priding itself in being not just a “livestreamer,” with the title making it clear the concept is about more than just a concert broadcast.
“The way we’re educating the industry is, ‘Don’t think of it as a ticketed event, think of it as a 360 e-commerce experience that is anchored by a piece of live content,’” Mehta told Pollstar in February. “The word ‘livestream’ has a lot of baggage to it, or ‘virtual concert,’ which is even worse, because it’s suggesting inferiority to a physical show. COVID makes it feel like a substitute, but you’re not supposed to compare the two. It’s not a replacement at all.”
Since being founded in 2019 by Mehta, Nigel Egrari, and Shray Bansal, Moment House has powered Moments by Tame Impala, KSI, Halsey, St. Vincent, Kygo, Kaytranada, Tiny Meat Gang podcast, Brockhampton, Marina, Isaiah Rashad, Charlotte Cardin, Wine & Crime podcast, Bryson Tiller, Grouplove, Yungblud, Sabrina Claudio, Luke Hemmings, Omar Apollo, My Brother, My Brother, & Me podcast, and many more.
Moment House also digitally hosted both nights of Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala earlier this year and powered ticketing for Justin Bieber’s NYE livestream.
The announcement says that, to date, Moment House has processed 1 million tickets across 168 countries and an additional 44 territories.
The company recently announced several high-profile talent-facing hires that previously worked at companies like Spotify, Apple Music, WME, UTA, Paradigm, and AEG. In the coming months, Moment House says to expect “Moments” from Halsey, Tinashe, Michelle Branch, Louis The Child, Tiny Meat Gang Podcast, Small Town Murder Podcast and more.
