Elevation Festivals, the creators and producers of WonderStruck in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio’s WonderBus Music & Arts Festival, are bringing a new multi-day festival to Indianapolis called WonderRoad. The inaugural event will take place the weekend of June 11-12 at Garfield Park, and will see a lineup topped by Vampire Weekend and Lord Huron.
“Indianapolis is an important part of Elevation’s history,” Elevation president Denny Young said in a statement. “Our company was built around music and motorsports and I am proud to say that we have been a part of two Indy 500 victories. As we continue our expansion of highly curated festivals that include top global acts, a fan-friendly environment plus local artistic, civic and corporate involvement, Indianapolis is the best next market for us. MOKB’s Dan Kemer is one of my closest friends, who happens to be the very best concert promoter in this region. To have Dan, Josh [Baker] and the entire MOKB team by our side is a massive advantage.”
Bastille, Chvrches, Milky Chance, Bishop Briggs, Mat Kearney, Wrabel, Noga Erez, The Blue Stones, Ripe, Reignwolf, Taylor Bennett, John Harvey, Motherfolk, Leah Kate, Rebounder, Hembree, 81355, Noah Chenfeld, Goldpark, .wavrunner, Detention, The Protest, Fern Murphy, Huckleberry Funk, The Vindys, and The Palace round out the rest of WonderRoad’s 2022 lineup. Elevation Festivals will be presenting WonderRoad alongside the independent concert promoter, MOKB Presents.
“We are excited at the opportunity to host WonderRoad in our City,” Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said in a statement. “Indianapolis is known for its thriving arts community, as well as a tradition of musical excellence and innovation. WonderRoad is a great fit within that rich history, and we look forward to extending Hoosier hospitality to those attending from across the country and neighborhoods right here at home.”
While speaking to Pollstar in September, Young shared that the company’s events “put an emphasis on being more inclusive and artist-friendly versus transactional.” Elevation Festivals has been steadily growing over the last few years, with this year’s WonderBus and WonderStruck festivals seeing 45,000 fans combined. WonderRoad has also announced a $25,000 grant to Indy Parks, which will underwrite the 2022 Indy Parks Summer Concert and Movie series, which is an annual showcase of various performances, from jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, movies and more, across the city of Indianapolis.
“Parks are known for being welcoming places for people to relax, exercise, and enjoy activities and special events with their families and friends,” Indy Parks director Phyllis Boyd said in a statement. “We are thrilled to host WonderRoad as we invite park visitors to explore Garfield Park while enjoying an impressive display of artists and music.”
Two-day festival passes will be available on the festival’s website beginning Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. ET.
