The Weeknd Announces First Leg Of ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Global Stadium Tour With Special Guest Doja Cat

The Weeknd tour

The Weeknd has made good on his October promise of a stadium tour by announcing “The After Hours Til Dawn Tour” that will kick off in his hometown of Toronto at Rogers Centre on  July 8.

The tour, which will be supported by Doja Cat, hits North American cities and stadiums including Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.; Soldier Field in Chicago; Hard Rock Stadium in Miami; Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and more, before wrapping September 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
Tickets for the North American dates go on sale beginning Thursday, March 10th at 10am local time via The Weeknd’s website.  The tour is produced by Live Nation.
The Weeknd’s initial dates cover 18 stadiums with more possibly to come including additional dates in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa & Middle East to be announced soon.
In October, The Weeknd announced he was scotching a 104-date arena tour – that itself was an expansion of his original outing that was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic – much to the dismay of fans and venue managers, and would instead tour stadiums; no dates or further information was made available at that time.
The pandemic was particularly unkind to The Weeknd and his fans, striking just as the artist was about to celebrate his massive success, stubbornly hanging on for more than two years before audience restrictions were largely lifted in North America and full-scale touring could resume.
He was surely poised for a leap to the next level at the time of his last shows in 2018 – two sellouts at Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico, promoted by OCESA/CIE and moving 36,214 tickets for a $2,173,942 gross.
Special guest Doja Cat, herself a star in the making, emerged during the pandemic as a TikTok phenomenon and is currently averaging 3,119 tickets sold and a gross of $230,851.
Fans who previously had tickets for the “After Hours” arena tour in North America will have access to a special presale starting March 4, and will receive an email prior to that date directly with more information.
Verizon will offer an exclusive presale for The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” in the U.S through the customer loyalty program Verizon Up. Members will have first access to purchase presale tickets for select shows Monday, March 7 at 10 a.m. local time, through Wednesday, March 9 at 10 p.m. local time.
Verizon Up members will be prompted to connect their Verizon accounts with their Ticketmaster accounts on to complete their purchase. For more details and to sign up, visit Verizon Up
There will also be a Spotify Fans First presale for the top streamers of The Weeknd starting March 8, as well as Live Nation presales in all markets.
The “After Hours Til Dawn” trek also comes with a major charitable component.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting global hunger, has partnered with its Goodwill Ambassador Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye to launch the XO Humanitarian Fund to which The Weeknd is contributing $1 from each ticket sold in North America from this highly anticipated tour.
The Weeknd will also make a donation of $500,000, and $1 million will be contributed by World Food Program USA to the fund. Fueled by his passion to help those in need, the global superstar established this fund to support the U.N. World Food Programme’s critical food assistance to communities on the brink of starvation, in countries like Ethiopia, Madagascar and Yemen. The Fund is administered by World Food Program USA.
This 2022 tour marks the first time The Weeknd will be touring his mammoth album After Hours, featuring the massive hit “Blinding Lights,” as well as the recently released album Dawn FM. The trek is also his first outing since headlining the Super Bowl Halftime in 2021.
“The tour will see his most ambitious production to date reflecting the creative journey that continues to unfold for both these albums, creating worlds within worlds as we have all been watching unfold in various television performances, music videos and short films bringing these first two pieces of his trilogy to life,” according to a Live Nation announcement..
Just prior to the tour announcement, Prime Video debuted “The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience.” The immersive music special expands the multi platinum, two-time Grammy-winning artists critically acclaimed album Dawn FM into a mesmerizing visual, creating a theatrical performance event that has enveloped audiences in its unnerving and moody world.
Available exclusively on Prime Video, The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience is available now only to Prime members in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide HERE
