Pollstar + VenuesNow 2022 Women Of Live: Margaret Galton

C3 Presents
Talent Buyer

As a talent buyer with C3 Presents for the past decade, Margaret Galton books the mammoth Austin City Limits Music Festival alongside C3’s Amy Corbin and works on concerts throughout Texas including at rooms in Austin such as Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, ACL Live at The Moody Theater, Paramount Theatre, and Bass Concert Hall. She can add a new one to that list now, too.

“Hands down, the opening of Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park,” Galton says when asked of her 2021 highlights.

“Amy Corbin, Charles Attal, Sarah McGoldrick and Casey Carter in our office have been working on getting this venue open for close to 10 years. A couple of years ago I was roped into working on the project as the talent buyer. I was over the moon because of my affinity for and involvement with the park project, experience on Red River, and excitement for the coveted 4,000-plus cap venue that was the missing link in available rooms in Austin. We really started digging into programming once we got the park opening timeline early last year and in August of 2021, we had the first show play out.”

The Gary Clark Jr. opening show at the new venue was a first in many ways.

“It was the first show I had been to that felt most like the shows we were going to in 2019, and it was the first show I had been to since having my second kid,” Galton says. “The weather was warm but not scorching like it usually is in August in Austin. The venue was magical with the park surrounding me, the capitol as the backdrop to the stage and the city buzzing around me. I walked in and within minutes ran into Amy, John, Casey, Charles and Sarah and it felt like the gang was all back together again. I am getting worked up just thinking back on it now.”

Looking forward, Galton says she and C3 are ready to tackle what’s shaping up to be a busy season.

“It feels so good to be on the horizon of what’s to come this spring and summer,” she says. “We’re streamlining our booking process, getting creative in how we work within our roles, and taking the opportunity to learn and shift into other roles. It is an exciting time and one that will shape the future of our industry.”
