LL Cool J, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Phoebe Bridgers, Van Morrison, Rüfüs Du Sol, Bon Iver Announced For Forest Hills Stadium’s 2022 Season
Forest Hills Stadium, the pride of Queens, New York, has announced its 2022 season running May thru October and featuring an eclectic mix of top-tier rock, hip-hop, indie, EDM, pop and more. Among the headliners are Bon Iver, Van Morrison, LL Cool J (as part of the Rock The Bells Concert with Ice Cube, Rick Ross, Lil Kim, hosted by Roxane Shante), Phoebe Bridgers, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Illenium, Rufus Du Sol, Oceza, Lumineers, AJR, Leon Bridges, Death Cab For Cutie and more.
“This upcoming summer we are blessed with a beautiful, diverse lineup of artists that we hope is reflective of the incredibly vibrant and diverse cultural makeup of Queens which we are proud to recognize as ‘The World’s Borough,’” said Mike Luba, a partner in Madison House Presents, a subsidiary of AEG Presents, which promotes the venue’s concerts with Bowery Presents.
Next year, Forest Hills Stadium, which has a capacity of 13,000 and where the Beatles, Stones, Dylan and Jimi Hendrix once played, will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Though used primarily as a venue for tennis and host of the U.S. Open, the building fell into disrepair after the Open moved in 2977 to Flushing Meadows, Queens. Madison House Presents partnered with the West Side Tennis Club to rehab the stadium in 2013.
The facility is currently preparing for its 100th birthday next year, which will be commemorated with a series of centennial events honoring the venue.
“As we approach our 100th season of presenting shows at the stadium, it has been exceedingly gratifying to welcome legends like Van Morrison back for a 3rd time while also being able to bring an artist like Phoebe Bridgers back to the stadium, returning to headline after opening for The National her first time on this legendary stage,” said Luba, who is overseeing the stadium’s rehabilitation.
Forrest Hills this season will bring back its 1923 Club, a limited ticket program that allows some New Yorkers to get tickets at $19.23, the year the stadium was built, for select shows. Fans can register for the program here.
