Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Announces 2022 ‘Let’s Turn It Into Sound Tour’
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, L.A.-based experimental musician and composer, has announced a headlining U.S. tour which will run in tandem with her new Ghostly International release Let’s Turn It Into Sound, which drops Aug. 26.
Her nine-date tour hits Elsewhere in Brooklyn, Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, and L.A.’s Teragram Ballroom, along with an appearance at San Luis Obispo’s Festival Mozaic on July 28 kicking off the run. She’ll have another festival play Sept. 3 at Austin’s LookOUT Fest (full dates below).
Smith, who is managed by Laurel Sterns at LSSMgmt/Primary Wave Music and repped by Todd Walker and Kelly Deasy at the Outer/Most Agency, recorded Let’s Turn It Into Sound over “three frenzied months alone in her home studio,” as she, like so many others, attempted to process these fraught times.
Smith just released a kaleidoscopic new video for the song “Is it Me or is it You?” (below) by Smith and Sean Hellfritsch which uses a motion capture suit.
Earlier this year, Smith released a collaboration album with Emile Mosseri entitled I Could Be Your Dog / I Could Be Your Moon, which was named one of Vinyl Factory’s “Favorite Albums of 2022 So Far.”
Smith has performed with a number of high-profile artists, including Animal Collective Four Tet, Caribou, and Tortoise and composed original works for Apple, BBC Orchestra, Adult Swim, MoMA, Red Bull and others.
Most recently, Smith contributed a remix for the upcoming Danny Elfman album, Bigger Messier as well as worked with Tyler Bates on the score for the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction at the Epcot Theme Park in Walt Disney World Florida.
And, if that weren’t enough, you can catch Smith on her monthly radio show “Touch The Plants” on NTS, the global online radio platform.
