Calvin Harris to Deliver Unique Live Experience on TikTok

People can soon experience a live performance from one of the biggest names in electronic dance music, also known as EDM, using their smartphones.

TikTok announced Wednesday that it will provide users with the Calvin Harris Experience, a concert that will immerse fans virtually into the music of the popular Scottish DJ. The social media experience, done in partnership with Wave, will feature audio-reactive visuals in a nature-inspired luminous world, and Harris will be performing as a virtual avatar. The event premieres Friday, Jan. 13, at noon PST and will be broadcast on Harris’s TikTok account.

“I’m so excited to kick off such an innovative music series and can’t wait for fans to experience my first-ever virtual concert,” Harris said in a statement.

The acclaimed DJ and producer garnered more than 4 million views on TikTok when he posted his first video on the platform last May in which Harris broke down the creation of the track “Potion.” His music has also been popular among user posts as Harris’s take on the SZA song, “The Weekend – Funk Wav Remix” was in more than 5.5 million creations.

TikTok and Wave have delivered a similar virtual experience in 2020 with The Weeknd, the platform looks forward to providing another event for EDM fans.

Adam Arrigo, CEO of Wave, echoed Hourican, saying “We are excited to work with a forward-thinking artist like Calvin Harris to bring his fans a one-of-a-kind virtual concert experience. We are also thrilled to be partnering with TikTok again to showcase what the future of virtual entertainment experiences can be.”

Those who are unable to watch the global premiere of the Calvin Harris Experience can watch the rebroadcast on Jan. 17.
