Depeche Mode Adds 29 Fall Stops to ‘Memento Mori’ Tour
On the heels of a release of a new single and a sudden boost in streaming, Depeche Mode announced an additional 29 stops on the band’s ‘Memento Mori’ tour.
The band released “Ghosts Again,” its first new single in six years and the lead track on the forthcoming Memento Mori album due March 24, earlier this month. That followed a successful streaming January when the Mode got a bump from “Never Let You Down Again” make a plot-critical appearance in HBO’s “The Last of Us.”
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers announced the first leg of the “Memento Mori World Tour” in October. It kicks off March 23 in Sacramento, California. After 10 North American dates, the tour moves to Europe for a summer-long stadium and festival run. The new dates follow, starting with a September 21 play at Mexico City’s Foro Sol.
The new leg includes stops in Houston and Washington, D.C., along with stops in cities — among them Chicago and Las Vegas — included on the first leg. The band will also make fall stops at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center (Oct.21) and Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden (Oct. 28); the spring leg also includes an MSG play. The new leg wraps with a Dec. 10 stop at Inglewood, California’s Kia Forum followed five days later with the finale at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena (there’s a Forum date in the spring, as well).
The last time Depeche Mode toured was 2017’s “Global Spirit Tour.” The trek wound up being the band’s longest to date, and landed at No. 20 in Pollstar‘s Year-End Top 100 Worldwide Tours Chart for 2018 with a total of 871,375 tickets sold. The year before, in 2017, Depeche Mode ranked No. 6 with more than 1 million tickets sold.
Highlights from their last run included grosses over $4 million in La Plata, Argentina, and Santiago, Chile. Over the course of two shows in Mexico City, Depeche Mode raked in $7.4 million, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice.
Fan Pre-sale begins February 21, with the general on sale February 24 at 10am local time. For further information on the tour routing and ticket on-sale dates, visit depechemode.com.
