MSG Announces Final Show Of Billy Joel Residency
After 150 shows throughout his lifetime, Billy Joel is ending his residency at the famed Madison Square Garden. The last show will take place on July 25, completing the artist’s monthly performances at the famed venue.
Joel’s history with Madison Square Garden stretches back to 1978, when he performed at the arena for the first time. In 2006, he performed 12 consecutive shows at the Garden, setting the record for “most consecutive performances by any artist” at the time. Several years later, in 2013, the arena named Billy Joel as their first-ever musical franchise, the artist joining the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.
Throughout his most recent ten-year run, Joel has been joined on stage by Bruce Springsteen, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, John Fogerty, Billy Gibbons, Brian Johnson, John Mayer, John Mellencamp, Olivia Rodrigo and more. So far, he has sold more than 1.6 million tickets throughout his tenure at the venue.
Represented by Dennis Arfa at Independent Artist Group, Joel’s residency brought in an average of around $3 million per month.
Leading up to his final performance, Joel’s remaining shows at Madison Square Garden will take place on Nov. 22, Dec. 19, Jan. 11, Feb. 9, March 28, April 26, May 9 and June 8.
