Zeds Dead’s annual pilgrimage to Denver is taking place once again on July 2, 3 and 4, kicking off with two nights at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 2 and 3 before heading to downtown Denver for their Fourth of July Backyard Jamboree.

The performances at Deadrocks often set the tone for Zeds Dead’s sets throughout the rest of the year, with last year’s event paying homage to sampling and referencing the original material being utilized. The duo has said in the past they look at the nights at Red Rocks as a four hour set with an intermission, rather than being two separate shows.

“It’s a little bit in the vein of trying to look at the samples behind a lot of music,” Zeds Dead’s Zachary Rapp-Rovan, better known as Hooks, told Pollstar ahead of last year’s Deadrocks event. “When we made hip-hop, we would sample a lot of things tand we carried that over into Zeds Dead. We would call it remixing more often, but still sampling things. And this show we wanted to, use visuals to show where the samples came from, not just with art, but with music we play, and showcase just how many different eras of music are actually represented in our sets. We thought it would be a cool visual element.”

Last year, Zeds Dead appeared on the cover of Pollstar ahead of their annual Deadrocks event. They also discussed their Backyard Jamboree with its annual hot dog eating contest, which features 10,000 fans watching contestants stuff down as many hot dogs as they can in three minutes. The winner receives guest list for all Deadbeats events for a full year, with both 2022 and 2023’s winners managing to eat six hot dogs in the allotted time.

“I always tell contestants to cancel the rest of their plans for the night,” Deadbeats’ label manager, Harrison Bennett, told Pollstar earlier this year of the hot dog eating contest.

Zeds Dead are managed by 2+2 Management’s Adam Gill and booked by Wasserman Music’s Cody Chapman.

Presale for “Deadrocks” begins on Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. MT and general on sale starts on Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. MT.
