Brian Hetherman Appointed As Canadian Music Week’s International Programmer
Canadian Music Week (CMW), an annual conference and festival that promotes the growth of the country’s music and entertainment industry, announced the hiring of label and management firm owner Brian Hetherman, who will oversee international programming for this year’s event taking place June 3-5.
Hetherman, who owns Cerberus Management and Consulting as well as music labels Curve Music and Sonic Envy, will work with CMW President Neill Dixon and the event team to attract notable speakers and develop panel topics for one of the music industry’s top conferences, which will be held at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.
“CMW is always adapting with the times,” Hetherman said in a statement. “I was the international ambassador at Canadian Music Week for many years, working with them on their international marketplace and attending conferences around the world on behalf of Canadian Music Week, as well as my own entities. It’s a natural progression to help put together panels, both domestic and international.”
Having attended Eurosonic Noorderslag in Holland, England’s Great Escape and Westway Lab in Portugal, Hetherman has developed key relationships and gained insight into the biggest issues affecting the music business today. He also boasts more than 30 years of experience, taking on different roles to fully understand the ins and outs of the industry, and will begin working with CMW immediately while continuing to operate his labels and artist management company.
Since its inception 42 years ago, CMW’s music festival has featured some of the biggest names in music, including Slash, Marshmellow, Katy Perry, ODESZA, Arcade Fire, Alanis Morissette, RZA Cage The Elephant, Post Malone and Janet Jackson. This year’s festival takes place June 1-8 and will have headline shows across 25 venues.
