Hip-hop legend Grandmaster Flash signed with Universal Attractions Agency with Jon Moskowitz acting as responsible agent, the entertainment company announced Monday.

Grandmaster Flash is a pioneer of hip-hop culture whose DJ skills birthed new techniques on the turntables. He founded and created Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, an influential rap group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 2007. He also received the Polar Music Prize in 2019 as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Grandmaster Flash was part of the 2023 Grammy’s 50th anniversary of hip-hop celebration that featured an unforgettable set of performances from some of the most iconic rap figures. He kicked off the award show’s tribute to hip-hop, which was curated by Questlove, with “Flash to the Beat” and “The Message.”

“As a native New Yorker, working with such a hip-hop legend is an honor and a privilege,” Moskowitz said in a statement. “Grandmaster Flash’s legacy and impact on the genre speak for themselves. I look forward to what the future holds.”

Grandmaster Flash has toured the world since breaking onto the music scene in the late ’70s, including an intimate sold-out show at De Vaartkapoen in Brussels, Belgium, on Nov. 30, 2019, that grossed $5,355 off 600 tickets sold, according to Pollstar Boxoffice.
