Texas Eclipse Announces Refund Policy Following Festival Cancellation

After severe weather caused Texas Eclipse Festival in Burnet, Texas, to shut down early, Disco Presents and Probably Nothing have announced its refund policy for fans impacted by the cancellation. All festival tickets purchased will be eligible for an automatic partial refund based on the number of days fans attended the event.

Fans who purchased a 4-Day GA or VIP ticket will receive a 25% refund of the ticket’s face value, while fans who purchased three-day GA or VIP tickets will receive a 33% refund and fans who purchased a 2-Day ticket will receive a 50% refund. Camping upgrades and add-ons will receive a 25% partial refund of the face value. According to festival organizers, the reimbursement is based on supplier cost, as well as the consultation of insurance regarding weather-driven event cancellations.

The festival canceled on April 8 due to severe weather, with those on site saying a two-hour rainstorm hit the area on the evening of April 8 with heavy rains and hail. The one-time music festival was scheduled to take place from April 5-9, and served as a celebration of the total solar eclipse in North America. The festival site was in the path of totality, with the aim to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans to witness a total eclipse.

“We canceled because of the high likelihood of multiple days of severe weather including tornadoes and damaging winds, large hail, lightning and heavy rain,” festival organizers said in a statement addressing the cancellation. “The forecasted weather would have created extremely dangerous and catastrophic results for our guests and staff, many of whom were camping in fabric tents and some without cars. We had to make a decision early enough to allow for all guests to leave safely before the forecasted weather made that impossible.”
