Rick Mueller announced that he’s stepped down from his role as President at AEG Presents. His departure from the company is effective today after 13 years working for the major promoter.

“I am certain this news will be a surprise to most but I would like to share that I have informed Jay Marciano that I am leaving AEG Presents, effective today,” Mueller wrote in a memo May 8. “I have loved my time at this amazing company and the relationships I have built with all of you, but I’ve made the decision to step away in order to pursue other interests in my life. It’s been an honor to be a part of the team that has grown AEG into such a strong company during my 13 years here, and I’ll be rooting with pride as AEG continues to roll out incredible shows, tours, venues, and festivals.

Mueller added, “I’m grateful to Jay for giving me the opportunity to guide the North American business, and while I am sad to be leaving AEG, now is the time for me to move on. I want to wish all of you the best, and hope to see you all at a show somewhere down the road. Cheers! RM”

Mueller was named to Pollstar’s inaugural Impact 50 list in 2019, celebrating the most impactful executives in the live industry. His write-up noted that since becoming North American president of AEG Presents, Rick Mueller had overseen the promoter’s continued expansion, from clubs and theaters to massive festivals including Coachella and nostalgic one-off Desert Trip.

Before joining AEG, Mueller served as the president of Live Nation California.

AEG Presents ranked No. 3 on Pollstar’s 2023 Year End Promoters chart with a gross of $1,380,393,996 and 13,052,364 tickets sold.
