ARC Music Festival & House Music 40 Celebrates 40 Years Of House With Chicago Pop-Up

House Music 40 is partnering wtih ARC Music Festival to celebrate the 40th anniversary of house music with a free pop-up event in Chicago’s Daley Plaza on May 29. The show kicks off at noon with performances by Derrick Carter and DJ Heather, with the show hosted by Mother Diva.

“I am thrilled to mark this momentous occasion with ARC Music Festival, Chicago’s flagship house and techno festival,” House Music 40’s founder, Vince Lawrence, said in a statement. “They have provided a wonderful platform for DJs and lovers of dance music throughout the years.”

The event aims to raise awareness to the impact of Chicago house music, celebrating 40 years of the genres commercial success.

“As a team, for us falling in love wtih house wasn’t a choice, it was a reflex,” ARC Marketing Director, Alan Brant, said in a statement. “We see it as our mission to help the world understand that house is from Chicago.”

The partnership with House Music 40 will see a continued celebration of house music throughout the summer, with ARC also returning to Union Park over Labor Day Weekend.

“As a Southsider who grew up enjoying house music, it is an honor to show tribute to the originators of house and its birthplace – launching a global phenomenon that has contributed to our great city and our country” says Bill Lowry, Cook County Board Commissioner. “We’re excited to be a part of the kick-off celebrations.”
