Sturgill Simpson Adds Second Nights In 3 Cities, Opts Out Of Dynamic Pricing

Facing high and rapid demand, Sturgill Simpson will play second nights in three cities during his upcoming “Why Not?” tour.

Simpson will now play doubles at St. Louis’ Fabulous Fox Theatre on October 16, Philadelphia’s The Met on November 13 and Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway on November 24.

The three new “An Evening with Sturgill Simpson” concerts will be available for pre-sale June 13 at 10 a.m. local time with general on-sale June 14 at 10 a.m. local time.

Also of note: The AEG Presents-promoted “Why Not? Tour” has opted out of using dynamic ticket pricing “with the intention of doing everything in their power to keep tickets in the hands of fans and out of the hands of scalpers. They are vetting pre-sale sign ups for bad actors, implementing Face Value Exchange and limited platinum ticketing to combat scalpers and out of control prices,” according to a release.

Simpson announced “Why Not?” last week, his first tour since 2020. The tour supports the forthcoming album Passage Du Desir, which Simpson recorded under his new moniker Johnny Blue Skies, after promising to only record five albums under his own name. The tour also commemorates the 10th anniversary of the release of Simpson’s groundbreaking Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.

The tour kicks off September 14 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and is routed largely through theaters and amps with a handful of arena dates, including Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Simpson is also set to headline San Francisco’s Outside Lands; he’s on the top line at Austin City Limits as well.
