Warm Love Cool Dreams Festival Announces Inaugural Year In Chicago

Chicago’s newest festival, Warm Love Cool Dreams, is set to take place at The Salt Shed on Sept. 28 and 29 with performances by The Jesus Lizard, Kelela, Sextile, Floating Points, King Woman, Shabaka and more.

The multi-genre event features no overlapping sets, the event inspired by a line from Nelson Algren’s novel “The Man With The Golden Arm.”

“The simplicity and beauty of the ideas of warm love and cool dreams was something that occupied my mind for many years,” festival curator Brent Heyl said in a statement. “We wanted to build a festival framework that creates an opportunity to showcase the artists we love in a way that is concise, unique and also rips. Playing into these two concepts feels like the way to do just that.”

The first day of the lineup embodies the “warm love” spectrum with more experimental and untamed sounds, featuring performances by The Jesus Lizard (their first in Chicago in six years), Sextile, Provoker and more. The second day of the festival then dives into “cool dreams,” featuring chill and inviting performances by Kelela, Floating Points and Sister Nancy.

Tickets for the festival go on sale starting June 21 at 10 a.m. CT, with general admission for the weekend starting at $90 and VIP tickets at $200. Single-day tickets will also be available starting at $49 and $115, respectively.
