Austin-based Artist Management firm Ten Atoms has hired David McDonough in the role of general manager and announced that McDonough will open the company’s first West Coast office this fall.

McDonough, who will report to founder Ryan Matteson, will work with “managers across the roster and building out artist services as the company continues to grow,” according to a news release that went out today.

McDonough most recently worked at Spotify as the Global Head of Talent Booking “where he built and managed the team responsible for delivering against the company’s talent needs for live performances and content.” Before that he was a manager at C3 Artist Management.

“The intersection of technology and music has never been more impactful for artists and their careers. This convergence has always fascinated me and has been my professional focus for the past decade,” McDonough said in a statement. “Managers are the frontline for artists as the industry navigates this new landscape and as a result need to constantly evolve their capabilities and services. I have long admired the business Ryan has built, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to work alongside him in this new role.”

Matteson added, “I had the privilege of working with David for several years at C3. He has remained a constant source of inspiration, ideas and encouragement since founding Ten Atoms and I could not be more excited to welcome him to our team.”

Matteson formed Ten Atoms in 2018. The company’s roster includes Grammy-Nominated artists Black Pumas and Japanese Breakfast, The Mountain Goats, Neal Francis and Deer Tick, along with recent clients signings Regina Spektor, the Breeders and Sleater-Kinney. Today’s announcement adds that “Ten Atoms is also pleased to welcome Bully back to the roster.” Along with its Austin headquarters, the film includes an office in Chicago.
