Scott Stienecker, Founder and CEO of Promowest Productions and Regional Vice President of AEG Presents, has announced his retirement after spending nearly half a century working in the live entertainment industry, including owning and operating 14 venues in Columbus, Pittsburgh, and the Cincinnati area. His retirement will be effective at the end of the year, with Jason Rogalewski and Justin Miller of AEG Presents’ Detroit-based Great Lakes regional office taking over the Promowest region.

An announcement from AEG notes that since starting his career during high school, Stienecker’s 46 years in the biz have seen him produce over 15,000 concerts, promoting stadium shows, arena shows, theater shows, club shows, and music festivals. Of the 14 venues he’s owned and operated, five were built from the ground up.

“I feel like I have attained all the goals I set out for myself in the concert business, and I’m turning 65 in November, so this feels like the time,” Stienecker said in a statement. “With Jason and Justin working closely with the great Promowest team already in place, I know the entire region will be in fine hands.”

Stienecker will continue working with AEG Presents as a consultant through 2025.

“Scott’s a good friend and a great promoter, and over the course of six decades he has brought phenomenal talent to the state of Ohio and the surrounding regions,” said Shawn Trell, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AEG Presents. “He is responsible for helping to create wonderful experiences for literally millions of concertgoers in the area, and he will be missed. I’m thrilled that Jason is stepping into Scott’s sizeable shoes; he’s a talented executive who will continue to build on the tremendous impact made by Scott and the entire Promowest team. But in the meantime, cheers to Scott on a remarkable career and legacy.”

Rogalewski, Senior Vice President for AEG Presents Great Lakes, has spent 25 years in the industry, including the past 17 years at AEG Presents overseeing the Detroit and Cleveland markets. He will continue to report to Brent Fedrizzi, President – AEG Presents North American Regional Offices. AEG’s announcement adds that Miller “also brings 25 years of experience to the expanded duties: he spent the bulk of his career in the role of general manager, and currently oversees operations in the region. He will continue to report to Rogalewski.”

Stienecker was honored as part of the 2021 VenuesNow All-Stars list by Pollstar’s sister publication. In his write-up, Stienecker discussed how seeing KISS at age 16 changed his life and made him want to be in the industry, leading him to put on shows as a student at Bowling Green and later Ohio State, and eventually landing an internship with promoter legend Bill Graham.
