Usher postponed the opening night of his highly anticipated “Past Present Future Tour,” the star announced on social media Wednesday morning. Tonight’s show was supposed to be the first of three sold-out concerts at State Farm Arena in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. The next Atlanta show scheduled is this Friday.

The pop superstar posted a statement on his social media pages informing fans that tonight’s show will be rescheduled to allow his body to “rest and heal” and that the new date will be announced soon. He didn’t specify any ailments in the statement.

“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” Usher wrote. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal. You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.”

He added that the last thing he wanted to do was to disappoint “fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”

Usher, who is represented by Lafitte Management Group’s Ron Laffitte and booked by WME’s John Marx, has been riding a wave of success since his Super Bowl halftime performance in February, announcing a global tour and adding more dates to meet demand. The singer hasn’t toured in over six years and has performed mostly residency shows in Las Vegas and Paris since 2021. He wrapped his residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas last December and averaged $1.6 million per show.
