Following the success of Another Planet Entertainment’s concert featuring System of A Down and Deftones at Golden Gate Park last summer, the Bay Area-based promotion company is gearing up for the second edition with Zach Bryan and Kings of Leon. The show is set to take place on Aug. 15 at Golden Gate Park’s Polo Fields, utilizing the same stage build from the company’s music festival scheduled the weekend prior, Outside Lands.

When the concert series debuted last summer, the show drew a crowd of 50,000 attendees, making it the first concert to occur in the park after dark.

“We’re beyond thrilled to bring Zach Bryan along with Kings of Leon to Golden Gate Park Concerts for the very first time,” Another Planet Entertainment President of Concert and Festivals, Allen Scott, said in a statement. “It’s an incredible lineup in an exceptionally stunning and unique setting. We can’t wait for fans to come in from all over the country to experience this memorable night.”

The concert series is part of Another Planet Entertainment’s work to reinvigorate the San Francisco music scene, with the city having struggled to return culturally post-COVID. Over the last year, the company has thrown pop-ups with Skrillex and Fred again.. in front of city hall, as well as free concerts at the Embarcadero with dance music record label Dirtybird and at city hall with Portugal The Man. Their mega-festival, Outside Lands, also became the first ticketed event to take place in Golden Gate Park after dark.

“We first approached the city five years ago asking if we could leave the main stage up and do a standalone concert or concerts,” Scott told Pollstar ahead of the first concert last year. “At the time, it got moderate interest from the city. And then a couple years ago, the summer of ’22 Outside Lands, I was giving a tour around the festival before we opened doors to the Mayor of San Francisco. And she said, ‘It’d be great to do a second weekend of outside Lands.’ And I said, ‘It’s probably a little bit of a stretch in terms of the demand for tickets to do two weekends. But, we would love to do a concert or concerts out there the following weekend.’ And that was the beginning of the ball really beginning to roll. Then, late last spring, the park said, ‘You know what? We think we can make this happen.’ And we started the due process with the city and neighborhood, and we were approved this past September to do anywhere up to three concerts the weekend following Outside Lands. And this is the first one we’re announcing.”

Zach Bryan is booked by WME’s Andrew Colvin and Seth Seigle, and is currently on the road for his sold-out “The Quittin’ Time Tour.” Over the course of his 45 reported headline dates to Pollstar’s Boxoffice, he’s sold 786,700 tickets grossing a total of $124.7 million.

Kings of Leon are also booked by WME, and the band has reported 447 headline reports to Pollstar with a total of 3.9 million tickets grossing $237.1 million.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. PT, with prices ranging from $199.70 to $479.70.
