With the second annual Impact International: Australia and New Zealand special, Pollstar is once again shining a spotlight on the live business Down Under, as well as honoring 10 of the region’s most impactful executives and five up-and-comers from the next generation.

As we’ve seen in the U.S. and the U.K., the live music market in Australia can also be viewed as a tale of two extremes. As Tom Johannesen, managing partner at Encore Venues in Melbourne, sums up, the top end of the business is booming, with major international acts selling out stadiums and artists going straight to arenas on their first tours, but smaller, grassroots ven- ues are struggling with soaring operational and insurance costs.

The 2025 special includes a feature on Michael Coppel, president and chairman of Live Nation Australia, along with a look at the thriving music scene in Perth, Australia’s export markets and the rise of country Down Under. Plus, check out the AUS/NZ charts, ranking the top-grossing venues, promoters and touring artists.

The intro page for the 2025 Impact International: Australia and New Zealand special is presented by Venues New South Wales, which has been Australia’s home of major events since 1854. The network currently consists of six stadiums and two entertainment centres in Sydney and New South Wales, which welcome more than 5 million fans annually to 500 events. Venues include Accor Stadium, home of the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games; the Sydney Cricket Ground; Allianz Stadium; McDonald Jones Stadium; CommBank Stadium; WIN Stadium; Newcastle Entertainment Centre and WIN Entertainment Centre.
