DJ Rezz Cancels Coachella Performance Due To Health Issues

Ukrainian-Canadian DJ/producer Rezz, whose real name is Isabelle Rezazadeh, has dropped out of her second weekend Coachella performance at the Sahara Tent due to health issues, posting the “bad news” on Instagram. She was slated to appear on Saturday after a dazzling performance last weekend.
Rezz joins previously performers like Labrini Girls, who dropped out after their lead singer suffered a fractured neck, and electronic musician Anyma, who cited the dust storms for the cancelation just 15 minutes before his scheduled appearance.
“My body has been whispering for a while that I need a real break,” wrote Rezz. “But I continued to push thinking it would be fine… I’m really sorry to anyone who may be disappointed.”
Rezz went on to say she would upload the full show from the first weekend to YouTube. “It’s something I’m super proud of. I love u all, I hope u understand. It’s gonna be a process for my healing. Thank you, Coachella. I’m grateful I got to perform last weekend, now it’s time to focus on my health.”
Rezz has attracted attention for her dynamic live performances, which feature her signature LED “hypno” kaleidoscopic goggles. Her most recent project, the “A Shift in Perspective” EP, was released just days before her Coachella show. She has released five studio albums, starting with 2017’s Mass Manipulation, which won a Juno Awards for Electronic Album of the Year, as did 2020’s Beyond the Senses.
Originally from Niagara Falls, Rezz was born in Ukraine to a Ukrainian mother and Iranian father before moving to Canada at a young age. Inspired by Deadmau5, she became a DJ after producing music as a teenager on her laptop. She has released music on Deadmau5’s Mau5trap label, and was noticed early on by Skrillex, who reached out to her on Twitter. MTV dubbed her the “new queen of the dark techno scene,” as she described her music as “eerie grungy, dungeon sounds.”
