Now in his 54th year in the live business, legendary promoter (and Pollstar Hall of Famer) Louis Messina is surely at the point where he can take it easy and coast, right?

C’mon. In the last few years alone, Messina’s helmed the “Eras Tour” (only the biggest run of all time), seen George Strait continue to bust records at stadiums and watched as Kenny Chesney took his endless summer party into Sphere as the first country act to play the technowonder Vegas venue. So why not chill? Because Messina’s got more to do. 

Zac Brown Band did a Sphere stint of its own. Ed Sheeran’s heading back to stadiums. Ty Myers is doing an arena loop and indie darling Phoebe Bridgers is returning to the road for the first time in three years, this time under the Messina Touring banner and in arenas herself on a tour that’s had to add second and third dates in many cities to handle the demand. 

“We have big things happening. And with us, it’s every act playing in the right place,” he says. “George Strait just finished some record-setting stadium dates from two nights in Lubbock to being the first act back at Clemson’s Death Valley, including four nights in Austin at Moody, which were absolute magic. Ed Sheeran is getting ready for a massive stadium tour, while Kenny Chesney wanted to have one more bite at Sphere; add in arena tours with Zac Brown Band, Phoebe Bridgers and Ty Myers, and that’s just this year. But we have an even bigger 2027 shaping up, some things I think people have really been wanting and waiting for. So, we’re already gearing up for ’27, and we’re fired up.”

Messina’s secret is being willing to pivot.

“If what you are doing isn’t working, change it,” he says. “It’s pretty simple, and it’s never let me down. I see folks continue to tread water, who just keep hoping for a better outcome – and that never works. Do the same thing over, thinking there’s a different result? Nope. I learned a long time ago, if you don’t change what you’re doing, you’ll never discover what does work.”
