Lindsey Schiffman takes pride in her artist development role as an agent with TBA Agency, where she booked her first tour for a band called feeble little horse, which she booked almost exclusively in DIY venues two years ago before they put out their first record.

“After putting out a critically acclaimed record in 2023 and disappearing for the better part of a year, they made their SoCal debut at Coachella with a sideshow at The Fonda this past April,” Schiffman explains. “It was incredible to see how excited their fans were to finally see them live, and the band sounded impeccable. Every headline show we’ve put up this year has sold out, so I’m looking forward to seeing how things continue to progress.”

Schiffman brings her life experience of playing in bands and going to shows, as well as being the concert director at her school’s radio station.

“I already had some experience booking shows for the bands I played in over the years, but it was an eye-opening experience getting to talk to agents and being on the buying side,” she says. “After graduating college, I was working as an A&R assistant at Atlantic and really missed being involved in live music, so I started applying for agency jobs and was lucky enough to get a job at the Windish Agency as an assistant.”

But she came in with important real-world experience, starting in 2010 as an unpaid intern for the Warped Tour. “I mainly restocked the Rockstar fridges, made laminates, delivered food, made photocopies – basically all the glamorous intern tasks no one wanted to do; but I didn’t care because it gave me a free pass to see so many of my favorite bands.”

As a Millennial, Schiffman says growing up with the internet gives her generation a leg up.

“It wasn’t really functional to the level it is today – so we had to find music by browsing in record stores and through word of mouth from friends. I think that’s really played into how I find bands to work with and helped me to be resourceful when problem-solving.”

Mentorship has been important to Schiffman’s development, and she cites TBA agent Ryan Craven as an “incredible mentor.”

“Aside from teaching me the ins and outs of booking successful tours, he has taught me ways to communicate effectively to deliver for my clients and that the most important thing above all else is to be nice.”
