The Touring Career Workshop (TCW) returns to Nashville next month for its 13th edition, featuring esteemed touring manager Marty Hom as this year’s keynote speaker.

The free event, which takes place Nov. 12 at the Soundcheck Annex, offers expert advice and support for professionals in the touring industry. Breakout sessions will cover topics including mental, physical, and fiscal health; work/life balance, crafting a solid business plan, and getting the gig.

Hom has spent more than 40 years working in the industry with artists such as Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, and Janet Jackson.

TCW was created in 2011 by Chris Lisle and Erik Parker “to serve and educate their colleagues in the touring music industry.” Lisle is the owner of concert event design, production and management firm CLLD, whose clients have included Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Brooks and Dunn and Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Bash, among others. During his more than three decades in the industry, Lisle has worked in roles including production designer, lighting director, production manager and show producer. Parker has served as the lighting director for acts including OneRepublic, NeedTobreathe, Jennifer Nettles and Brooks and Dunn, as well as designing stages at events such as KAABOO festival and designing and programming tours for Judah and the Lion, Dave Koz, Simply Three and others.

“This year’s theme – RESET – is appropriate as we dive into where we are as an industry and what the future looks like as these post-COVID years have been a rollercoaster in a lot of ways. “With a storied keynote speaker and impactful breakout sessions, this year’s event is shaping up to be our best yet,” Lisle said in a statement,

Lisle added, “There are very few people in the live entertainment industry who have amassed a resume like Marty’s. He will offer great insight into where the industry has been and more importantly, where it’s going, along with the lesson of longevity.”

Ahead of the main event that starts at 4 p.m., the Touring Career Workshop will offer the Reboot and Refresh: Career Essentials Lab featuring “a resume consultant, a financial advisor offering customized spending plans, and a photographer snapping headshots.” This week’s announcement notes that the Career Essentials Lab perks will be available “all for a nominal fee.” The pre-event session starts at 2 p.m.

In other news, TCW’s All Access Program — which offers four counseling sessions with pre-approved therapists at no cost — “has expanded rapidly and is now offered to all artists, bands, crews and staffs at festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Fest, Faster Horses, CMA Music Fest, and to participants and crews at the PGA Simmons Open.”
