The word from Gwar’s management company, Slave Pit, indicates the move is a result of permits, or more specifically, the lack of permits allowing the Gwar-B-Q to take place at Hadad’s Water Park near Richmond, Va.

“We feel we have been treated in an unjust manner,” Slave Pit’s Dave Brockie said in a statement announcing the change of locale. “There have been music festivals for years in Henrico County with no problem OR licenses. We jumped through hoops, hired cops, made safety plans … and at the last second they chose not to give us the permits.”

The new venue is the National Theater in Richmond. However, the date is the same – Sept. 17.

Among those appearing will be Darkest Hour, a special reunion of Kepone and the debut of The Argonauts, featuring Dave Witte of Municipal Waste. While moving the Gwar-B-Q indoors means some changes to the game plan, the band assures fans that there will be plenty of food and various events such as “American A-Hole” and the “Bloody T-Shirt Contest” will still take place.

Tickets are still available. Visit Gwar.net for more information.
