No Sequel To Radiohead’s ‘King Of Limbs’

Despite all of the hints, clues and theories Radiohead fans may have gathered to prove that the band is releasing a sequel to “King Of Limbs,” guitarist Ed O’Brien says there’s no plans to put out another album from the sessions.

The King of Limbs was released in February as a download through Radiohead’s website. Fans could choose between a $9 MP3 download or a $14 higher-quality WAV version. The physical version of the album was released March 28 in the United States and Canada. It was released a day earlier everywhere else.

A special edition, dubbed “The Newspaper Album,” will be released May 9.

During a recent interview with BBC’s 6 Music News, O’Brien confirmed that Radiohead is releasing two additional tunes as a 12-inch vinyl for Saturday’s Record Store Day.

“‘The Butcher’ is from The King Of Limbs sessions that we didn’t put on the album,” the guitarist said. “And ‘Supercollider’ was recorded during that period but it was finished off after the album came out.”

Radiohead fan site At Ease reports that the 12-inch is only being released in Europe and Japan.

Some fans have speculated that another album would be released soon because The King of Limbs only features eight songs and clocks in at less than 38 minutes.

O’Brien told BBC’s 6 Music News that The King Of Limbs’ track list was intentional and that another album isn’t in the works.

“It’s the way the album sequenced best as far as we were concern,” O’Brien said. “We were aware that 40, 41 minutes is about the optimum time, we feel, for a record.

“There are songs that we started that we never finished but there’s not like another 7 or 8 finished songs, waiting in the wings to be released now or in the autumn. … When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh.”
