Yeah Yeah Yeahs Anniversary Show

The indie rock band explained in a post on its website that this week marks 10 years since the YYYs played its first small club gig in the Big Apple.

“Our birthday wish is to play a show as small or smaller than back in the day and get NOSTALGIC with our friends Todd P and Secret Project Mighty Robot on September 22. So dust off your Machine EPs or maybe give ‘Yeah New York!’ a whirl because we’re digging up some oldies but goodies, heavy on the early catalogue. It’s back to basics, just the three of us and a couple hundred of you.”

The all-ages show takes place at Secret Project Robot in Brooklyn, N.Y.  The gig features Talk Normal as the opening act and Barry London spinning between sets.

Tickets go on sale today and will be sold exclusively at the Secret Project Robot from 6 to 8 p.m. The tickets are just $20 each and are limited to two per person. Bring along your identification and keep in mind that the tickets are non-transferable. Fans are advised to show up to the venue early today because tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. No tickets will be sold at the door.

“Accommodations will be tight so we’d like to apologize in advance to those who want to be there but don’t get in,” the band told fans. “We thank you for humoring us with this selfish wish to make it so puny!”

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs features singer Karen O, drummer Brian Chase and guitarist Nick Zinner. The band’s most recent release was 2009’s third full-length studio album, It’s Blitz. The group last performed in January and last played the U.S. in September 2009.
