Charlatans’ Drummer Collapses
The Charlatans, referred to in the U.S. as The Charlatans U.K., were playing Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia when Jon Brookes collapsed and stopped breathing. Fortunately for the band, there was a doctor in the audience who administered first aid and managed to get the musician breathing again.
Brookes was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was given a CAT scan, and has since been transferred to a larger hospital for more tests. He is reported to be improving and doctors do not expect the incident to have any long-term effects on his health, according to the band’s website.
However, the band later tweeted that tonight’s show at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Cabaret has been canceled.
