The standard CD and digital download formats dropping next Tuesday are available for purchase on their own or as part of a ticket bundle for Petty and company’s Mojo Tour, which kicked off last week in Denver.

Two weeks later, on June 29, the album will be released exclusively through Amazon and independent retail stores as a stand-alone audio only Blu-ray disc – a first for a contemporary recording artist. The disc, which contains 256 times more resolution than a CD and more accurately reproduces the full dynamic range of the original recordings, can be played in stereo or 5.1 surround sound.

Also available on June 29 is a special 180 gram, 2-LP vinyl version of Mojo pressed at Pallas, Germany, and mastered at Bernie Grundman Studios from the uncompressed 24-bit 48 kHz files.

Both the Blu-ray and the audiophile vinyl editions of the album include a code that will allow a digital download in one of three formats: 320 kbs Mp3, Apple Lossless or Flac.

A special iTunes version of Mojo, available for pre-order now, includes an immediate download of the first single, “I Should Have Known It,” as well as exclusive music, videos and other special features like scans of four hand-written lyrics sheets from Petty’s personal notebook.

Now, about that test drive: ESPN is launching a brand-new music section of “The Life” on its website. To christen the new arrival, ESPN.com will begin streaming Mojo in its entirety beginning tomorrow morning and continuing through the album’s release date of June 15.
