Lil’ Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was arrested in January 2008 when authorities found cocaine, Ecstasy and a gun onboard his tour bus during a stop at a border checkpoint near Yuma.
But the rapper had a good reason for yesterday’s absence. Defense attorneys pointed out that the Grammy-winning artist is currently serving a one-year sentence in a New York City jail for a weapons violation. Guess the Yuma court didn’t get the memo.
