The roster for the summer 2010 event reads like a Who’s Who of barrier-smashing pioneers and genre bending newcomers, with Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan and festival vets Erykah Badu, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls and Tegan and Sara at the head of the class.

The incredibly diverse group of performers set to bring the music to the masses next year also includes Miranda Lambert, Janelle Monáe, Metric, A Fine Frenzy, Chairlift, Jill Scott, Sugarland, Brandi Carlile, Butterfly Boucher, Ingrid Michaelson, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Katzenjammer, The Submarines, Tara MacLean, Sara Bareilles, Chantal Kreviazuk, Serena Ryder, Susan Justice, IMA, Donna deLory, Ash Koley, Ann Atomic, Jennifer Knapp, Jill Hennesy, Meghan Smith, Verdera, Vita Chambers, Nneka, The Weepies, Ximena Sarinana and Zee Avi.

Additional acts, as well as dates and locations will be announced in the near future.

Several of the women who were around during Lilith Fair’s heyday from 1997 to 1999 are thrilled to be a part of it again.

“Magic happens when you bring this many artistic women together,” Badu said on the festival’s Web site. “I’ll never forget the frequency and energy that I felt that first time I performed at Lilith. Between the sistas on stage and those in the audience, it was powerful!”

Siblings Tegan and Sara Quinn said playing Lilith definitely left an indelible mark on their lives.

“Sara and I played on of the last Lilith Fair shows ever 10 years ago in Edmonton, AB. We only played one show, and it was on the smallest stage, in the rain, to nearly no one,” Tegan explained. “And yet, for the past 10 years, it continues to come up in almost every interview and is something we honestly look back on as a very important event in our career.”

For some of the younger performers along this time, the chance to be a part of the legendary gathering is a dream come true.

“I am excited to be part of a tour that celebrates and acknowledges talented women from all genres of music, and am so proud to have the opportunity to join the prestigious line up of past female artists who have performed on Lilith Fair,” Lambert gushed.

Singer/songwriter Bareilles is still pinching herself to make sure it’s not a dream, saying, “I was beyond thrilled to hear of Lilith’s return. I was never luck enough to get to see one of the shows in the original incarnation, but I have been waiting for this for a long time.

“I love the philosophy behind this concert series, both celebrating women in music and also how music can help the communities around them. I almost can’t believe that I actually get a chance to be a part of this!”
