Scamming Suspect Suicide
An alleged concert ticket scammer in Michigan was found dead in an apparent suicide after selling dozens of bogus tickets to a Nickelback concert.
Angry fans pinpointed Kyle Branum as the con man behind dozens of fake tickets to the sold-out Aug. 12 show at the DTE Energy Music Theatre.
“[Boxoffice staff] pointed to a big stack of papers and said, ‘All those people had the same ticket you did,’” one fan who was turned away at the gates told the Detroit Free Press. “Basically, he was making copies and selling them.”
They appeared to be legit, general-admission lawn seat tickets and the paper says 100 people were scammed.
Fans took out their frustration by making numerous posts on online classified site Craigslist warning others.
Police found the Troy, Mich., resident hanged in his home late that night, the paper said.
