From Russia With Love
After invading North America (and the offices of a certain magazine/Web site) for a sold-out 16-city run earlier this year, Russian rockers Mumiy Troll are readying a return visit that will take them places they never dreamed of playing.
The band’s 35-date fall trek kicks off Oct. 2 at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York City and will hit clubs and theatres across the U.S., Canada and – for the first time ever – Mexico.
Notable stops on the schedule include MOD Club in Toronto (Oct. 10), Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago (Oct. 14), Teatro De Ciudad in Mexico City (Oct. 25), Granada Theater in Dallas (Nov. 5), Black Cat in Washington, D.C. (Nov. 11), and Chop Suey in Seattle (Nov. 22).
Additional dates for the run are expected.

The success of Mumiy Troll’s spring tour is all the more remarkable because not only were many of the markets on the itinerary new ground for the band, they’d never released music there.
The group’s U.S. debut, Comrade Ambassador, also caught the attention of critics in places as diverse as Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times which called the band “a nuclear meltdown of The Bravery, Tom Petty and The Afghan Whigs.”

Back home in Russia, Mumiy Troll, which began by playing clubs in Siberia and their hometown of Vladivostock, are now seasoned vets who regularly packs arenas in Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as the Baltic States.
Just before kicking off their North American trek, the band will release a digital EP featuring remixes, unreleased tracks and a few new songs, including their first official track recorded in English.
