Sony Closes In On Jackson Rehearsal Video
Sony Pictures Entertainment is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for a feature film based on the more than 80 hours of footage depicting Jackson & co. prepping for the 50 sold out shows that were to begin on July 13 at London’s O2 Arena.
Show biz publication Variety says Sony Pictures is expected to pay AEG Entertainment more than $50 million for the rights to the footage. Along with the rehearsal shots, the film will also include several videos created for the concerts, including an alternative version of “Thriller.”
According to Variety, the music videos were originally intended to be presented in 3D during the O2 shows. It is not known if the vids will appear in 3D in the finished feature film.
“High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega shot the rehearsal footage and is expected to be listed as the film’s director. Sony Pictures hopes to release the finished film before the end of this year.
