Aerosmith is settling a class-action lawsuit by fans who purchased tickets to see the band perform in Hawaii in 2007, with a new, yet-to-be-announced date for the island.

The fans’ lawsuit alleged the band pulled the plug on the 2007 Maui show in order to play a larger date in Chicago as well as a private show for Toyota dealers on Oahu.

The suit also claimed the band’s original cancellation cost ticket buyers between $500,000 to $3 million in travel costs. Guess they never heard of Priceline.com.

“Everyone who bought a ticket to the original concert will receive a free ticket, and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed regardless of the amount,” said Brandee Faria, an attorney representing fans in the class action suit.

Although the date for the new Maui gig has not been nailed down, Faria did indicate it would likely be in September or October.

Aerosmith announced its first tour in two years earlier this month. The lawsuit-inspired Maui date is expected to take place after the North American run, which currently shows September 16 at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan as the last date.

Aerosmith attorney Jay Handlin was also happy with the settlement.

“The band is about the music,” Handlin said. “So they are glad to be able to resolve this in a way that really focuses on connecting or reconnecting the people of Hawaii with the band and its music.”
