The economic downturn has made things tough for charities all across the country. But the Community FoodBank of New Jersey has a secret weapon:
Bruce Springsteen.
The charity has enlisted the help of some of the biggest names in rock photography – including Anton Corbijn, David Rose and Annie Leibovitz – to help raise funds by asking them to donate rare, signed photos.

A $25 donation could win you this photo of The Boss taken at Asbury Park in New Jersey in 1974. Photographer Mary Alfieri says Springsteen "somewhat reluctantly agreed to be photographed in front of the carousel" but after seeing the photo said, “That’s me, those photos are who I am.”
Fourteen lucky fans who make a donation of $25 or more will have a shot at winning a rare, signed photo of Springsteen. Prizes include the album covers for Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born in the U.S.A., The Rising and other classic albums by The Boss.

Photographer Lynn Goldsmith took this photo of Springsteen and his band just prior to the release of Darkness on the Edge of Town. Her goal was to take a shot that would "reflect the tone of the album as well as the relationship of the band to each other."
Winners will be chosen once 14,000 donations have been made. The odds of winning are pretty darned good too – you have a one-in-a-thousand chance.
