The plan calls for the band to be interviewed by singer / actress Shirley Manson in Los Angeles on March 9. March 10 finds the boys in Chicago for another interview, and then it’s off to Boston for more press and a free show on March 11 at a “historic” venue yet to be announced, according to Reuters.

U2’s new album, No Line On The Horizon, was released this week, and the band will announce its upcoming tour next week.

According to tour insiders, the freebie will not be an entire concert. Instead, expect the event to be a taste of what fans can expect later this year when the band hits the road.

Where will U2 play in Boston? We don’t know. We’ve heard several venues mentioned as hosting this special record label-driven event, but those in the know are keeping their lips sealed.
