Mahjongg Makes Its Move
Chicago-based electronic band Mahjongg is gearing up for a winter tour in support of its sophomore release, Kontpab.
The tour launches at The House Café in DeKalb, Ill., Jan. 29 and makes stops at Gardner Lounge at Grinnell College (Jan. 30), Billiken Club in St. Louis (Jan. 31), Al’s Bar in Lexington, Ken. (Feb. 12), Pilot Light in Knoxville, Tenn. (Feb. 13), Outback Lodge in Charlottesville, Va. (Feb. 17), Floristree in Baltimore (Feb. 18), Chronic Town in State College, Pa. (Feb. 19), The Cinemat in Bloomington, Ind. (Feb. 20), and wraps at the Hideout in Chicago Feb. 21.
The quintet claims to use its music to spread the word of its god, Kontpab, to help save humanity “The Grid” – a state of limbo or imprisonment – and lead the masses to the nirvana-like atmosphere of “The Sphere” through the use of “pharmaceuticals, beer and dancing as well.”
