Prince Smells The Lawsuit
Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics is none too pleased with Prince, whom the company claims failed to promote a fragrance associated with the performer.
The company filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court Nov. 17. The company says it licensed Prince’s name, likeness and album title “3121” to market the fragrance but is reportedly suing Prince for $100,000 for failing to help increase brand recognition.
Revelations says it spent $2.5 million and agreed to pay Prince’s music publisher, Universal Music Publishing Group, half of net profits. Revelations also claims Universal failed to promote the fragrance. Another fragrance is reportedly due next year.
Universal spokesman Peter LoFrumento calls the claims “completely without merit.”
