Seven Worlds Collide Again

Several major musicians joined Finn for a special series of concerts in New Zealand in 2001 supporting international development organization Oxfam. The concert series and live album were dubbed “Seven Worlds Collide,” inspired by a lyrical couplet from Finn’s old band, Crowded House.

Joining Finn on the shows were Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway, Johnny Marr, Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg, songwriter/violinist Lisa Germano and Neil’s son, Liam Finn.

All of the above are expected to support Neil Finn’s new project (Eddie Vedder was also on the original tour but is not mentioned as a return performer). The tour will be introduced by an album that will include members of Wilco – Jeff Tweedy, John Stirrat, Glenn Kotche and Pant Sansone – and New Zealand songwriters Bic Runga and Don McGlashan.

The shows are expected to take place in Auckland early next year, with details announced soon, according to a statement.

Oxfam describes itself as an international development organization working to end poverty and injustice to bring real and lasting change to the lives of people living in poverty and to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world.
