All Roads Lead To Ego Likeness
The duo kicks off a month-long run tonight at Full Moon in Memphis, Tenn., and is currently scheduled to hit clubs across the country through mid-February, including Dante’s in Saint Louis, Mo. (January 21), DNA Lounge in San Francisco (January 27), Fez Ballroom in Portland, Ore. (January 30), Area 51 in Salt Lake City (February 2) and Hi-Ho Lounge in New Orleans (February 12).
The band will join German synth-pop trio And One at Philadelphia’s Shampoo February 16 for Dracula’s Ball and Assemblage 23, Seabound, Zombie Girl, Attrition, Iris and more for the Black Sun Festival at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Conn., March 14-16.
Additional shows are expected through the spring and summer.
Tickets are available through individual venues.
Ego Likeness’ Donna Lynch said South is the first in a series of four limited edition, five-song EPs based on the points of the compass.
Each disc will include “a couple of new songs (or versions of new songs that will show up on the next full-length album this summer/fall), some redone versions of older material and remixes by other bands.”
Although the band is still with Dancing Ferret, the imprint that released 2004’s Water for the Dead and 2006’s Order of the Reptile, the EPs are being handled independently and are available through the band’s web site and at shows.
“It was a totally DIY thing,” Lynch told Pollstar. “Dancing Ferret is still going to release our next full length, but they aren’t as big on the smaller run, limited edition thing.”
For those not familar with Ego Likeness or their high energy live show, here’s a clip of the band performing at Joseph’s Well in Leeds, U.K., last October during The Electromotion Tour.
In addition to the EPs, touring and completing another full-length album this year, both Lynch and husband Steven Archer, the other half of Ego Likeness, have their hands full with literary projects.
Archer will release a children’s book, “Luna Maris,” this summer and Lynch’s thriller/dark fiction novel, “Isabel Burning,” is due in August. –
