Fred, Kate, Keith and Cindy kick off the party tonight at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City accompanied by dance-punks The Rapture.

Other stops on the band’s dance card include Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif. (November 15), The Roxy in Los Angeles (November 16), The Depot in Salt Lake City (November 17) and Universal Studios Citywalk in Orlando, Fla (December 31).

Dates for next year so far include the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville, Fla. (February 15), River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, B.C. (March 28), and Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Wash. (March 29).

Tickets for a few shows, including the Halloween bash at Roseland Ballroom, are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Funplex, which is scheduled for release February 26, was recorded in The B-52’s old stomping grounds of Athens, Ga., with producer Steve Osborne (New Order, Happy Mondays, KT Tunstall).

B’s frontman Fred Schneider said the new album’s 11 tracks are classic B-52’s with a 21st century flavor.

“There’s more electronica on it,” he said. “It’s up-tempo and a bit sexed-up. It’s sexier than ever.”

Guitarist Keith Strickland agrees with that assessment.

“It’s loud, sexy rock and roll for your pleasure zones, with the beat pumped up to hot pink.”

To keep your pleasure zones satisfied until Funplex hits the streets, here’s a clip of the B’s doing their first hit, “Rock Lobster,” at their induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
