Steep Summer Series
It’s the Hamptons in the summer, and that means VIP tix ain’t cheap.
The Social concert series will likely be the most luxurious of this summer’s offerings, but a pass to all five of the shows will cost $15,000, according to the Wall Street Journal. Apparently, single-show passes will not be sold for the event.
The all-star lineup will feature Prince, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Billy Joel, James Taylor, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers on select Saturday evenings throughout July and August.
At $3,000 per show, the series definitely falls on the high end for ticket prices. In comparison, Barbra Streisand’s top tix last year were $1,000 without the extra price of VIP incentives.
But Joe Meli, CEO of Bulldog Entertainment, the series promoter, told the WSJ the Social’s prices correspond to what’s available on the secondary market. And a succesful series could mean large paychecks for the artists and the promoter.
Bulldog will reportedly offer 1,000 passes for the shows, and some of the proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund for the Ross School, where the Socials will be held.
Still, Meli would not call the Social concerts a fundraising effort.
“We’re not obfuscating what we’re doing by calling ourselves a charity,” he told the paper.
Repeated attempts to reach a Bulldog representative were unsuccessful at press time.
