Low Gets Loud
The latest itinerary stretches for about two weeks in early February, sticking mainly to the East Coast and upper Midwest. Rumor has it the tour will expand to much of North America, but no other dates are confirmed so far.
The group is currently finishing up a short European run, with four dates in Spain and one last show in London.
As the band has moved through progressively larger labels, it’s also refined and expanded its sound, most recently with 2002’s Trust, the third of a series on Kranky. They’re promising to add another, louder element to the mix in 2005 with The Great Destroyer, their first album for indie superlabel Sub Pop.
The disc was produced by Dave Fridmann of Mercury Rev and Flaming Lips fame. Although the band has shied away from comparing the album to recent Fridmann efforts, all reports have it that the disc will be an unprecedentedly upbeat affair.
That’s right, kids, get ready for the new, rockin’ Low. Moping is so ’90s, anyway.
