In what is turning out to be one of the most anticipated reunions in ages, the
Pixies have officially announced that they will headline a full U.S. concert tour this fall.
The jaunt will begin on September 4 in Bend, Ore., just before a headline spot at Seattle’s Bumbershoot on September 6. Although only scattered dates have been confirmed so far, the band promises the tour will run through the end of the year.
The fall U.S. shows will follow their spring North American “warm up” dates (including their co-headlining spot at the Coachella Festival), a brief South American sojourn, their seven-week summer European trek, an appearance at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, and the two V2004 festivals in the U.K. August 21-22.
The Pixies – vocalist/guitarist Frank Black, guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering – haven’t performed together since they broke up in 1993 after five acclaimed albums.
