One Beat Goes On
Although they’re hard at work on their next album, indie rock queens Sleater-Kinney are making room for some North American tour dates this spring, split into two legs – one for each coast. They’ll start in the East with an April 21 gig at Towson, Md.’s Recher Theatre. The stretch includes a two-night stand at New York City’s Irving Plaza, and wraps on the 30th at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The West Coast leg runs from May 14-25, with California getting the lion’s share of dates. They’re scheduled to appear at the Sasquatch Festival May 29 at The Gorge in George, Wash.
The band offered an apology for fans in cities that aren’t on the schedule: “Why are the tours so brief? Because we are writing songs and getting ready to record. More extensive US and overseas tours will commence once the new album is out.”
Sleater-Kinney did their fair share of traveling last year, opening for Pearl Jam and headlining shows with The Black Keys and Cat Power. Their sixth album, One Beat, was released on Kill Rock Stars in 2002.
