The trek launches July 3 in Grand Rapids and winds its way around the States to wrap August 23 in Seattle.

Mainstage acts for the tour are Jane’s Addiction, Audioslave, Incubus, Queens Of The Stone Age, Jurassic 5, The Donnas, and A Perfect Circle.

The Blender Magazine Second Stage finds the Distillers, Cold, Steve-O, The Music, Cave In, Kings Of Leon, Rooney, The Mooney Suzuki, Pharoahe Monch, Burning Brides, 30 Seconds To Mars and the Bellydance Superstars. Billed as “a fertile launching pad for developing artists,” the second stage will also feature a local band performing an opening set in each market.

“Lollapalooza’s mission is to be great and wonderful, to speak to people and speak for the earth, and to embody music’s power to bring people together,” founder Perry Farrell said. “It was created to share the bountiful gifts that our culture holds and now it’s returning to enjoy its permanent place in that culture.”

In addition to two stages of music, Lollapalooza also sports a midway packed with video game competitions, food, art and audience interaction games. There’s also the World Of Just (Be)Causes, which features both local and national nonprofit groups.

“As town criers, we’re very interested in promoting alternative fuel,” Farrell said. “We’re in danger of losing every environmental law written in this country and the voice that reaches out the furthest is the musical one.”

Tickets to some shows are already on sale through lollapalooza.com. Prices range from low $50s to mid-$60s.
