Cute, Cuddly And Coming To A Club Near You
The four-week run provides a much-needed break from the rigors of the recording studio for the band, who are currently working on their sixth album. The still untitled album, set for release in early 2003, will follow 2001’s widely-successful Rings Around The World.
For fans who can’t wait to get their paws on the new album, Super Furry Animals have put out a little something to tide them over. A DVD version of Rings Around The World is available and contains 12 different films commissioned by the band, each accompanying a track from the album. Also included is the usual mix of band-related extras, bonus tracks and track remixes.
Since their start in the early ‘90s, Super Furry Animals have become one of the most prominent bands out of Wales. For their artsy fusion of pop, punk, techno and rock, the band has earned international critical accolades, despite the fact that many of their songs are sung in their native Welsh tongue.
At 2001’s inaugural Welsh Music Awards, the band won several awards, including the honor of best Welsh band, beating out the popular Manic Street Preachers.
Although they’ve done a few festival dates and one-off gigs around the U.K. this year, the Super Furry Animals have not actually toured their homeland since 2001. However, the lads did manage a small North American venture late this spring.
